Experiential Practices for Couples Therapists

Using experiential exercises during couples therapy is a powerful way to bring individuals into the here-and-now, offering a rich source of material to explore and bringing new insights into the relationship dynamic. This workshop, designed for practicing couples therapists, teaches experiential techniques and approaches grounded in the Hakomi method. No matter your therapeutic modality, this workshop offers useful, mindfulness-based interventions to integrate into sessions with couples.

This one-day, in-person workshop, intended for professional growth, is comprised of guided activities led by certified Hakomi teachers Liz Hunter, LMFT, and Kris Cook, LMHC, who will be available to offer support and feedback. Kris and Liz, both practicing Hakomi couples therapists, bring their wealth of experience in using experiential techniques with couples. The event will begin at 10:00 am and end at 3:30 pm on each scheduled day. Prior Hakomi experience is not a prerequisite. Eligible attendees will receive 4 CEUs. Workshop open to couples therapists only.

A good therapist shares control with everything present, sometimes moving deeply into the unfolding action, sometimes waiting quietly as the other does the inner work, surfing gracefully the changing amplitudes of intimacy.
