The mind requires our attention before it will quiet. Natalie Goldberg, writer and lifelong student of Zen, says “To stay close and intimate with experience is to stay close to the mind; the nitty gritty mind of the way things really are.” So this quieting the mind workshop does not provide a secret password to a calm mind, but tools to bring compassionate, silent attention to what is happening inside. And when the mind is calm, it’s easier to attend to family, friends, coworkers, and clients.
If mindfulness is a new concept for you, this workshop is a great introduction; if mindfulness is already part of your practice, this weekend will support and deepen your work. You will learn how to attend, with compassion and curiosity, to the many voices within.
Mindfulness provides tools for accessing deep material and can lead to a state of inner peace and equanimity.
The workshop is comprised of short presentations alternating with exercises (done solo, one-on-one, or as a group), and is presented in a step-by-step format, allowing plenty of time to take in the material. Hakomi certified teachers are present during each session and offer direction and feedback in a manner consistent with Hakomi.

Bring a notebook and pen if you like to take notes and a sack lunch (unless you prefer to go out). The lunch break is 60 – 90 hours.
You’ll take home a new practice, heightened awareness, an expanded skill set, and access to a sense of deep relaxation.
